HART’s Jo Blackwell recently attended the virtual European Sociological Association – Society and Sport mid-term conference, hosted by the University of Teramo, Italy. Jo had the opportunity to present some of the key findings from the final year of her doctoral study, funded by a dual studentship between the Universities of Lincoln and Copenhagen, supervised by Dr Hannah Henderson, Dr Adam Evans and Prof Jacquelyn Allen-Collinson.
Presenting as part of the ‘Bodies, sports and disabilities’ panel, Jo shared some fascinating insights, utilising Bourdieusian theory to explore how the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic have highlighted the importance of unstructured physical activity in recovery from, and management of, long-term health conditions. The conference was attended by a wide audience of European scholars, covering topics around Sport and Crisis: Bodies, practices and representations. Congratulations to Jo!
